John Monroe Ackerman

John Monroe Ackerman, 69, of Novelty passed away August 11th, 2016 at home in Novelty, OH. He was born October 20th, 1946 to the late Lennis (Bud) and Barbara (Bohlken) Ackerman. John later married Lane Mongold June 7th, 1975 in Atlanta, GA.

He was a Navy Vietnam Veteran, who served as a Disbursing Officer onboard the USS Blue Ridge. He also held an MBA from the College of William and Mary and worked as a geologist for Reynolds Metals, Unocal, and Freeport McMoRan.

One of John’s greatest pleasures in life was training his Chesapeake Bay retriever dogs for hunting and field trials with his friends.

He will be missed by: his loving wife of 41 years, Lane; sisters Janet Lesser and Barbara Arnold; and many friends. John is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Nancy Burnaugh and his brother George Ackerman.
