William Edward “Bill” Trask, Sr., age 86, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at UH Geauga Medical Center. He was born on May 6, 1934 at Corey Hospital in Chardon to Halbert and Martha (Hale) Trask.
Bill spent the majority of his life in the Village of Burton, Ohio. He graduated from Burton High School in 1954 and married Elaine (nee Kula) on April 7, 1956. He worked for AJ Ronyak Asphalt Paving, then for Eugene Brown Construction. He was self-employed in the construction trade well into his 70s. He enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, traveling and camping. He connected with nature through gardening and feeding the birds. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his large family. “Poppy” was a “super-fan” of all his grandkids.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine; his children, Terri (George) VanDeweel, Bill (Leslie) Trask, Lisa (Jim) Ludlow, Sandi (Tad) Thurling, Joe Trask, and Pat Utz; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Gert Bolander; and many extended family.
He was preceded in death by his “Gramp”, Clare Hale; parents; brother, Don Trask; sister, Ruth Buckley; and son-in-law, Ken Utz.
A private family burial will be at Welton Cemetery, Burton, Ohio.
