Walter W. Pierce, 62, of Middlefield, OH passed away peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer at UH-Geauga Medical Center Wednesday morning, December 11th, 2024 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Claridon Twp, OH on July 25th, 1962 to the late Ernest W. and Geraldine (Sawyer) Pierce.
He was raised in Burton, Ohio and attended Berkshire High School. Walter worked alongside his father, sister, and brother running “Ernie & Sons Hardwood Flooring” for many years. Walter was loved by many and known for his calm, friendly, demeanor. The pride of his life laid in his 4 children and 9 grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa Wally”. He always put his kids first and spent many years coaching rec girls softball, t-ball, and flag football.
Walter was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Cleveland Browns. He was always seen sporting a browns hat. One of Walter's favorite things to do was camp in the summer with his kids and grandkids. He always looked forward to an annual cabin trip to Cook Forest with the family where he had traveled since childhood. Walter loved the game of horse shoes where he made lifelong friends and could often be seen at the Wayne Luoma horseshoe courts at the Great Geauga County Fair.
In recent years Walter dedicated his life to serving Jehovah and was an active member of the Montville Kingdom Hall as one of Jehovah Witnesses.
Walter is survived by and will be incredibly missed by his best friend and canine companion, Pickles, his mother, Geraldine Pierce; brother, Ken (Casey) Pierce; sister, Jerri (Robert) Hutcheson; children, Beth Goodwill, Amber (Glen) Seel, Becca (Caden) Moore, Codey (Lillian) Pierce; grandchildren, Juliana, Logan, Lela, Charlotte, Lincoln, Brayden, Vivian, Valerie and baby boy on the way; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by his father Ernest Pierce and siblings Bobby, Ernie, Janet, and Michael Pierce.
Family and friends will be received from 3:00-4:30PM., Sunday, December 15th, 2024 at the Montville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 16471 GAR Hwy, Montville, OH. A Memorial Service will follow at 4:30PM Minister Doug Kelly officiating.
