Thomas E. Hopkins Jr., 78, of Burton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday morning, April 20th, 2021.
Tom was born in East Cleveland, Ohio on December 20th, 1942 to the late Thomas E. and Frances Marie (Artino) Hopkins Sr. Tom served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. Tom embraced life with humor and a mindful appreciation of everyday beauty. Tom was a creative artist, songwriter, poet, musician, and soulful singer. He was most happy when he was walking in the woods, playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, and especially when he was in the company of friends and family. Tom’s engaging personality brought laughter, smiles, song and stories and left those in his company feeling loved, accepted, and happier.
Tom expressed sincere gratitude for everyone in his life. He appreciated the care he received from the VA and held hospice in the highest regard for their loving kindness and care. He was especially thankful for his companion and best friend for the past 9 years who remained by his side, Joyce Blair.
Tom will be greatly missed. Thomas is survived by: his partner, Joyce Blair; his children, Michael (Willann) Hopkins, Jennifer (Larry) Flory, Eric (Emi) Hopkins; grandchildren, Rachel Hopkins, Sarah (Brent)(Swartz), Nils Hopkins, Paul (Kelli) Flory, Michael Flory, Joshua Flory; many great-grandchildren; brother Wayne (Nancy) Hopkins; and many beloved friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terrence.
A celebration of life will be held on June 18th 2021 Friday afternoon at Eldon Russell Park starting at 1PM. (16315 Rapids Road, Burton, Ohio 44021) This will be an informal picnic/celebration. Bring an appetite and all are encouraged to share their stories about Tom.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's memory are requested to be made to the Burton Food Cupboard at Burton Congregational Church, P.O. Box 496, Burton, Ohio 44021.
