Sharon A. Ilersich Obituary

Sharon A. Ilersich (nee Hazen), 72, of Mesopotamia,  OH, entered eternal rest surrounded by her loving husband and daughters on Monday, October 20, 2025. Sharon was born in Painesville, OH on August 31st, 1953, to the late Gale and Margaret (Winchell) Hazen.

Jesus was at the center of Sharon’s life. She loved to honor the Lord through worship and was blessed with a remarkable gift of singing, harmonizing, and playing the piano. She shared her talents joyfully through many groups. In high school Sharon recorded a record with her singing group, The Good News Singers. While attending Malone College, Sharon traveled to Central America with the choir. She continued using her God given talent serving on her church worship team.

A proud member of the Class of 1971 at Chardon High School, Sharon enjoyed playing the flute in the band and was honored to be chosen as Homecoming Queen – a reflection of her warmth, and kindhearted spirit that touched everyone around her.

She was a devoted wife to her husband, Jim. Married on May 28th, 1977, they loved spending time together, rarely doing anything apart. Even when their daughters were young, they continued to go on dates and make time for one another, setting a lasting example of love and commitment. Sharon and Jim were not only life partners but also best friends, sharing a deep bond that enriched every part of their lives. A real love story.

For the first 19 years of their marriage, Sharon and Jim lived in Chardon, Ohio. During the Maple Festival Sharon played the bass drum for the Rube Band along with her father, Gale, who played the trumpet.

Sharon had a gentle spirit and was the epitome of beauty and grace. A true example of a godly woman, she inspired her three daughters with her faith and kindness. She often reminded them to “let your light shine” as they began each day and guided them with wisdom, love, and faith, always encouraging them in the Lord.

Sharon will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 48 years, Jim, her eldest daughter Rebecca (Neil) Yost, their children Keegan, Deacon, Corah and Claire, her middle daughter Jessica (Tor) Eastlake their children, Jayla, Nevaeh, Tor, Talynn and Brayden, and her youngest daughter, Samantha  (Lou) Muche and their children Louie and Dylan, and three cherished sisters-in-law, Jamie (Ken) Broadbent, Jean (Russ) Meyer, Karen Hazen along with many other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jeffrey Hazen.

Sharon’s family wishes to thank the Crossroads Hospice team for their gentle and loving care. Their compassion and support brought comfort to Sharon and her family during this tender time and for that they will always be grateful.
