Ronald Charles Czajkowski, 80, of Hudson, OH, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, August 2nd, 2023, at the Medina Hospice Inpatient Care Unit while surrounded by his family after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 11th, 1942, to the late Charles A. and Martha (Zaczek) Czajkowski. Ron later married the love of his life and best friend, Dorothy Taylor at St. Laurentius Parish in Philadelphia, PA on June 29th, 1968.
Ron was a car enthusiast that worked on them, raced them, traded them in way too often, enjoyed collecting scale models of those he personally owned or simply liked, attended races, demolition derbies, and car shows. One child survived learning how to drive from him and he allowed his grandchildren to practice driving on his riding mower before their parents found out.
Ron was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back and yours. No challenge was too great, even if he lacked the skillset to complete it. Duct tape and more nails than were necessary could sure up any project. And a recommendation to not attempt something, like driving through a blizzard and then home again in the height of it, was viewed as a personal challenge that added gray hairs to those who loved him.
Ron would tell stories about his adventures, but none would bring a reaction like those about the chicken truck. If you knew him, you can totally relate.
He would tell his children that he never spoiled his grandchildren or broke their parents’ rules. Although he was an expert at not giving himself up, his grandchildren lacked the same skillset. He claimed not to be an animal lover, the affection he had for his dog, Spencer and cat, BooBoo, would tell a different story.
There are so many other tidbits to share for a life well-lived. To know Ron was to love him and he was loved for all of his 80 years. A love that he shared with all those whose lives he touched and made a positive impact.
He was known as “Mr. Fix it” by being a jack of all trades and master of none. Ronald excelled as a skilled mechanic, store clerk, wallpaper hanger, truck driver, and maintenance team member.
Ron was also a very dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy; children, Dawn Marie (Fran) Lecklikner, Tammy (Anthony) Ruggiero, Matt (Lori) Czajkowski; grandchildren, Breanna Marie Lecklikner, Dominic (Sara Iuliucci) Ruggiero, Vincent (Anne Farmer) Ruggiero, Adrianna Ruggiero; Emma Czajkowski, Caleb Czajkowski; brother, Joseph Czajkowski; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry Czajkowski; and grand-daughter, Noelle Elizabeth Ruggiero.
