Robert L. Hummel Jr.

Robert L. Hummel Jr., 73, of Windsor, OH, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, May 22nd, 2025 at UH-Geauga Medical Center. He was born in Chardon, OH on January 13th, 1952 to the late Robert L. and Betty (Thompson) Hummel Sr. Robert later married his best friend and the love of his life, Sue Milner on July 31st, 1990.

He was generous with his time and money, always ready to lend a helping hand. Whether it was organizing fundraisers for special projects or rolling up his sleeves for renovations that made a difference, he was someone who just wanted to help. If there was something to be built, he could figure out how to do it, and his workshop was where he spent countless hours bringing ideas to life.

One of his proudest creations was the elaborate treehouse with a suspension bridge, built for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved having them around, watching them play, and seeing them enjoy the space he had carefully crafted just for them. He also had a lifelong love for German Shepherds—he always had one by his side.

And when it came to time, well, he had strong opinions on that. Showing up exactly on time? That was already late in his book. Fifteen minutes early was the only way to go, and if you weren’t on board with that, you’d hear about it!

His kindness, skill, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved will always be remembered.

Robert will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 35 years, Sue; daughter, Wendy (Bryan) Satterlee; step-daughters, Barbara Schreiber and Rachel (Dale) Markiewicz; grandchildren, Rebecca, Justin, Jimmy, Lauren, Chris, Nicole, Lillian; great-grandchildren, Serenity and Damien; brother, Danny (Kathy) Hummel; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his parents and brothers, David, Albert, Ricky, and Jimmy Hummel.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE HELD AT 7 PM, FRIDAY, MAY 30TH, 2025 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062 with Pastor Mike Continenza  officiating. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 4 PM until the time of the service.
