Robert "Doc" Millard Stephenson Temple, DVM, 84, of Mantua, Ohio, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 8, 2026, after a short illness.
He was born in Cleveland on September 10, 1941, to the late Baldi August Temple, MD and Dolly (Krabill) Temple.
After graduating from Orange High School, he went on to attend Ohio State University & Ohio State Veterinary School. He specialized in exotic animals and worked for many years at SeaWorld Ohio in Aurora, Ohio. His work took him around the world, where he helped care for, handled, and transport exotic animals for zoos and other animal facilities.
He had a rare, God-given gift for healing and caring for animals. Whether caring for exotic animals, teaching at the forge, or sharing music and faith, Doc, as he was affectionately called, believed knowledge was a gift meant to be passed on.
He spent many of his later years in Amish country, where he knew it was important to teach and share his wisdom. He was a true mentor to many, especially through blacksmithing, where he taught young men how to forge metal and preserve the old ways. He touched many lives with his wisdom and his humor, and generosity. He lived by a simple principal: "Never stop learning!"
Doc was a member of the WRABA Blacksmithing Club at the Geauga County Historical Society and the Dulcimer Society of Trumball County.
He was also a member of The Church at Troy in Garrettsville, Ohio where he faithfully served Jesus and shared his love of music. He played his autoharp and helped teach others to play the dulcimer. His church family was blessed to have him in their lives and will greatly miss him.
He is survived by his son, Robert Temple Morabito, US Air Force and his sister, Kay Ellen Temple of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister, Danna Lee Greiner.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at 18712 Mumford Rd. Garrettsville, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will follow at 5:00 with dinner afterward. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family extends special thanks to Ernie Semety, Doc's closest and faithful friend in his life after Jesus.
