Rhoda Ann Katchmar (nee Doncourt), 81 of Huntsburg, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, December 26th, 2021 at her home. She was born in Jamaica, NY on October 17th, 1940 to the late Raymond W. and Anna M. (Contois) Doncourt.
Rhoda was a 1958 graduate of Naugatuck High School in Naugatuck Connecticut, and summarily attained an associate degree from Palomar College in Southern California. She was a Connecticut State Employee at the Southbury Training school for special needs children, working with them in the cottages and lastly as a dental Assistant to the Chief Dentist. Rhoda then spent many years in California. where she was a key employee in the funeral industry for Service Corporation International. Upon retiring from S.C.I., she then volunteered as a security deputy with the Vista, California Sheriff’s office.
Rhoda enjoyed being home and reading the bible and books from her extensive library. She had a passion for history, gerontology and aspired to be an archeologist.
She always placed others before herself and provided a warm and welcoming home for friends and family to gather. Animals needing rescue knew to come to her doorstep. Rhoda was an exceptional cook and also enjoyed decorating and enhancing her home with flowers.
Rhoda married Harry Katchmar on October 31, 1978 whom she will be greatly missed by as well as her daughters, Shari (David) Carda, Nina (Chris Caserio) Barbera; grandchildren, Kathleen (Nicholas) Healy, Matthew Carda; and great-grandson, Logan Healy. Nephews and Nieces and many friends throughout the country.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M., MONDAY, JANUARY 3RD, 2022 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH with Joyce Benesh officiating. Family and friends will be received from 9:00-11:00 A.M., at the funeral home. Rhoda’s final resting place will be in Huntsburg Cemetery, Huntsburg, OH.
