Ramon “Ray” L. Marsch, 80, of Mesopotamia, OH, passed away Tuesday evening, January 7th, 2025 at his home while surrounded by his family. He was born in a car in Cork Twp, on July 9th, 1944 while enroute to the hospital to Edward and Mildred (Horton) Marsch. He was the youngest of 15 children.
He grew up in Rock Creek, Ohio and graduated from Rock Creek High School. Ray met Jane (Gawrys) when she jumped on the hose to ring the bells at the gas station where he worked. They were married in February 1965.
Ray worked for many years as a tool and die maker with his brother, Andy, at Marsch Machine Shop until he opened Auntie’s Antique Mall with Jane in the fall of 1993. They moved the business in 1996. In 2007, Ray sold the business after Jane’s death.
His true passion in life was square dancing. He became a square dance caller in 1970. Calling took him all over the U.S. and even to other countries. Eventually, he built “The Barn”, a place where he could walk to call dances and teach others how to dance. He would invite EVERYONE to learn to dance, including the nurses following medical procedures.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Ray’s caregivers, Tiffany, Tori, Carla, Vicky, and Lora.
Ray is survived by his partner, Marlene Miller; children, Connie (John) Hasman and Ramon (Susan) Marsch Jr.; grandchildren, Kristen (Mikhail) Gospodenok, Aaron Laning, Meranda (Race) Walmsley, Ramon (Callie) Marsch III, Alex (Kayla) Marsch; great-grandchildren, Jude, Melody, Evelyn, Leo, Eileen, Kailey, Jane, Vincent, and Ezekiel; sisters, Barbara Townsend, Nancy Reiser, and Carolyn Collins; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved feline companion, Tuesday.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Jane; siblings, Edna, Virginia, Isabelle, Sylvia, Hazel, Patricia, Clara, Jean, Edward, Andy, and Tommy.
A Memorial Service, followed by a Meal and Square Dancing will begin at 1PM, Sunday, June 15th, 2025 at the Munson Twp Hall, 12210 Auburn Rd., Chardon, OH 44024.
