R. Thomas Briggs

R. Thomas Briggs, 93, of Middlefield, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, August 16th, 2026 at UH-Geauga Medical Center. He was born July 22nd, 1933 to the late Lyle and Mary (Waid) Briggs. Thomas is once again reunited with his loving wife, Ruth A. Briggs, who died December 12th, 2017.

Tom was a graduate of Burton High School and Kent State University.  He was a teacher at West Geauga Schools and retired from Berkshire Schools.  Tom was one of the founding members of Geauga Credit Union where he held the position of treasurer for many years.  In his retirement years he enjoyed traveling across the country as well as wintering in Florida.

Tom will be greatly missed by: his children, Frank (Tricia) Briggs, Rick (Lisa) Briggs, Jane (Frank) Apicella, Mike (Lisa) Briggs; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many friends.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, wife, Ruth, and brother, William Briggs.
