Mattie M. Gingerich (nee Miller), 85 years old, of Middlefield Twp, Ohio passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 12th, 2026, at home while surrounded by her family. She was born in Arthur, Illinois on September 20th, 1940, to the late Milo and Lydia (Byler) Miller. Mattie later married her best friend and love of her life, Lester J. Gingerich on May 5th, 1966. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She will be missed by: her loving husband of 60 years, Lester; children, John (Nancy) Gingerich, Betty Byler, Mary Ann (John) Mast, Cora (Freeman) Miller, Fannie (Norman) Byler, Robert (Sadie) Gingerich, Wilma (Norman) Bender, Milo (Esther) Gingerich, Chester (Laura) Gingerich, Lester (Betty) Gingerich Jr., Linda (Samuel) Bender, Noah (Ida Mae) Gingerich, Lydia (Johnathan) Kuhns, Melvin (Betty) Gingerich; 99 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; 3 sisters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mattie is preceded in death by: her parents, son-in-law, Lester Byler; 2 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 9:00 AM, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15TH, 2026 AT 16163 NEWCOMB RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH with Bishop David M. Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Melvin Slaubaugh, Joey Mullet, Andy Miller, and Roman Mullet Jr. Visitation will be anytime until the morning of the service. Mattie’s final resting place will be in Yoder Cemetery, Parkman, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Best Funeral Home, 15809 Madison Road, Middlefield, OH. 440-632-0818.
