Mary Kathleen Whipple, 75, of Southington, beloved matriarch of her family, passed away Saturday evening, May 2nd, 2026 at MH St. Joseph’s Hospital in Warren, OH. She was born in Akron, OH on July 8th, 1950, to the late Elmer J. and Katherine (Toth) Umbright.
She lived a life defined by love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and her faith. Mary was the heart of every family gathering, keeper of traditions, and her love for her family was the
foundation of her life. Mary’s kitchen was always open and no one ever walked out the door without a container of leftovers and a piece of her heart.
Deeply rooted in her faith, she found peace and purpose attending St. Edward’s Catholic Church and Bible Study, where her spirit was renewed and her heart strengthened. Mary was a wonderful wife, mom, and nana whose love and presence were felt deeply across her family.
Mary is survived by: her beloved husband of 55 years, Gary; dear brother, John; loving children, Shawn, Erin, Trevor, Ryan (Melissa); cherished grandchildren, Katelynn, Deanna, Chassity, Madison, Robert, Lilli, Ada, and Keely; many great-grandchildren; and friends.
Mary’s husband and family were her greatest joy and she took immense pride in each of them. While her absence leaves a deep void, Mary’s love remains a guiding presence for her family.
A MEMORIAL MASS WILL AT 1:00 PM, WEDNESDAY, MAY 20TH, 2026 AT ST. EDWARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 16150 CENTER ST., PARKMAN, OH with Father Jacob Bearer officiating. A Reception will be held following mass in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you gather together with your loved ones and share a meal in her honor.
