Margaret M. (Guffey) Ellis

Margaret Magdalene Ellis, 87, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 13, 1937, Margaret was a devout Christian whose faith guided her throughout her life. She graduated from West Geauga High School in 1955 and later worked as a home economics teacher at Geauga Christian Schools, touching the lives of countless students with her passion and talent.

In August of 1955, Margaret married the love of her life, Sheldon “Shelly” Ellis, and together they built a family filled with love. She was a devoted mother to one son and three daughters, a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, and a beloved great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren.

She had a special place in her heart for animals and was talented in many crafts, including crocheting, cross-stitching, and sewing. After spending several years of her childhood living with her grandparents in Saginaw, Michigan always held a special place in her heart. Many family vacations were spent in Northern Michigan, and she and Shelly purchased a family cabin that holds treasured memories—staying up late playing Phase 10 and Uno, watching her hummingbird feeder, and enjoying the peace of a sunset over the lake. It was truly a place of laughter, togetherness, and countless beautiful moments.

Margaret’s favorite word was joy, and it perfectly captures the feelings she inspired in all who knew her.

Per Margaret's wishes, no services are to be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Rescue Village Animal Shelter.
