Kevin Lee Reed Obituary

Kevin Lee Reed, 63, of Middlefield, OH, passed away at home on the morning of Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with colon cancer. While his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew him.

Kevin was born in Warrensville Heights, OH, on December 6th, 1962, to Gerald and Beverly (Nece) Reed. He later married his best friend and love of his life, Joy Christopher, on June 16th, 2001- a partnership rooted in deep love, loyalty, and unwavering support.

A proud graduate of Cardinal High School, Class of 1981, Kevin went on to attend the University of Akron, where he earned a degree in Business Management Technologies. He then answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served honorably for four and a half years as a storekeeper seaman, earning merit and distinction. During his service, he was deployed three times to the Persian Gulf, participating in Operation Earnest Will and Operation Desert Shield. His time in the Navy allowed him to travel to sixteen countries across Asia and the Middle East and cross the Equator twice- experiences that broadened his perspective and deepened his appreciation of the world.

Following his military service, Kevin dedicated 33 years to KraftMaid Cabinetry, where he led the Information Technology department with skill, vision, and integrity. He played a key role in guiding numerous technology advancements and modernization efforts, leaving a lasting impact on the company and his colleagues.

Above all, Kevin was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He had a generous heart and a servant’s spirit, always willing to lend a hand and never wanting to see anyone struggle. His faith in Christ was a guiding force in his life. As a dedicated member of the Methodist Church, he raised his children in faith and actively participated in Bible studies. He was especially proud of completing the Disciple: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study program at the First United Methodist Church in Middlefield, where he deepened his walk with Christ and embraced his calling to use his spiritual gifts to serve others.

Kevin’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, kindness, and love. Kevin will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 25 years, Joy; mother, Beverly; sons, Ian and Gavin Reed; siblings, Barb (Hugh) Mason, Bill (Lynn) Reed, Connie (James) Korby; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Reed.

Though he will be missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace and rejoicing in the presence of the lord. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Best Funeral Home, 15809 Madison Rd., Middlefield, OH. 440-632-0818. Online condolences may be sent at www.bestfunerals.com.
