Keith Alan Hopkins, 72, of Middlefield, OH, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, September 16th, 2023 at UH-Geauga Medical Center. He was born in Painesville, OH on December 24th, 1950 to the late Myron F. and Ruth E. (Wilson) Hopkins. Keith later married the love of his life and best friend, Okeylene “Okie” Hunt on May 24th, 1986.
He was a graduate of Painesville Harvey High School where he was an outstanding baseball player. After graduation, Keith earned an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from Lakeland Community College. He then joined the Jefferson, Ohio Police Dept and later became the Chief of Police of Rock Creek Village. Once his time in law enforcement ended, Keith became a manager at Walmart.
He loved reading and listening to his 50s and 60s music. Keith also enjoyed pranking people and singing for them. He would even make up amazing stories just to make Okie laugh all the time.
Keith loved people and loved talking to them for hours, especially about politics because he was part of so many campaign committees. He treated everyone like family and his house was always open to anyone.
He was always grateful for everything in life, especially his family. Keith cherished his children and grandchildren and was always proud of their achievements, both big or small. He never missed any of the baseball or football games and even coached his younger son’s baseball team.
Keith was a very dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 37 years, Okie; children, Diana Dalton, Michael (Kelly) Miller, E.
