Joseph C. Loomis

Joseph Calvin Loomis of Ashtabula County, Ohio passed away at 51 years old on May 13, 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was born on April 12, 1974 to Nancy (Hodder) and Robert Loomis, Jr.  He lived much of his life in and around Monroe, North Carolina.

Joe, affectionately Joey, graduated from Grand Valley High School in 1993.  He was a proud Camp Ho Mita Koda alumnus, having been the youngest camper to attend as of 1979 at 5 years old. Despite living with type-1 diabetes from 2 years old, Joe always had a positive attitude about life.  He loved the outdoors, was an avid camper and hiker, and could almost always be found in a hammock. He was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his son, Brien (Wyatt) Loomis of Waxhaw, NC, his mother and step-father, Nancy and Charlie King of Charlotte, NC, step-mother, Brenda Loomis of Windsor, OH, siblings; Rob E. (Jenn) Loomis of Raleigh, NC, Cyndi (Doug) Barrier of Marshville, NC, Dan Schneider of West Chazy, NY, Holly (Jason) Hejl of Windsor, OH, Eric (Danielle) Schneider of Newport, VT, and bonus family including his ex-wife and husband-in-law of 20 years Jennifer (Horton) and David Beaver of Waxhaw, NC, and bonus children Dallas Beaver of Wingate, NC and Madigan Beaver of Waxhaw, NC.  He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.  He is preceded in death by his father Robert E. Loomis, Jr., his grandparents Robert and Peg Loomis, Mickey and Martha Adams, Kenneth and Joann Hodder.

There will be two celebrations to celebrate Joe’s life. One will be on Friday, May 16, at Headwaters Boat House, 13365 Old State Road, Huntsburg, OH with calling hours from 4-5 and a service and fellowship to follow. The other will be on Sunday, May 25, with a visitation from 1-3 and service immediately following at Pavilion 6 at Cane Creek Park.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Parks Foundation and register to be an organ donor.
