Jimmie D. Murphy, 79, of Hambden, OH passed away peacefully at his home and surrounded by his family, Sunday evening, July 26th, 2020. He was born in Center Point, WV on December 6th, 1940 to the late Lonnie and Alma (Smith) Murphy. Jimmie later married Rebecca Morgan on June 5th, 1965.
He worked as a machinist and retired from Kennametal in 1996. Jimmie was truly a “jack of all trades” as he was skilled in carpentry, electrical, and mechanical work. He also enjoyed purchasing cars and reselling them.
Jimmie was also an ordained Minister who loved God and his family. He was a devout family man and had an incredible sense of humor that will be missed by all.
He will be dearly missed by: his loving wife of 55 years, Rebecca; children, Beverly (David) Johnson, Rev. Rodney (Stephanie) Murphy, Kimberly Schneider; grandchildren, Jessica (Brent) Huffman, Kyle Johnson, Kevin Schneider, Katrina Schneider, Kallie Schneider, Alyssa Murphy, Nathaniel Murphy; great-granddaughter, Bethany Huffman; brother, David (Judy) Murphy; sisters, Freda Hutson, Nadine (Gayland) Moyers, Delores (Roger) McCormick, Agnes Kenyon; beloved pet, Mindy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jimmie is preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Walter “Perk” Murphy; and sister, Lucille Swiger.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M., MONDAY, AUGUST 3RD, 2020 AT FREEDOM ALLIANCE CHURCH, 9892 OLD STATE RD., CHARDON, OH 44024 with Rev. Rodney Murphy officiating. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church on Monday. Jimmie’s final resting place will be in Hambden Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to assist with Jimmie’s final expenses.
