Jennifer J. Titus Obituary

AUSTINTOWN — Jennifer J. Johnson Titus, 73, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at Hospice House in Boardman, after a short illness.

Jennifer was born at Trumbull Memorial Hospital on Jan. 15, 1952, the fifth child of Irvin D. “Barney” and Pearl Ring Johnson.

Jennifer graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1970 and believed in the slogan “Once A Dragon, Always A Dragon.” She worked at numerous jobs through the years, including Dr. Naples, Sajar Plastics, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Lifetouch School Pictures to name a few, but her most rewarding and enjoyable job recently was babysitting her great nephews, Will and Oliver.

Jennifer loved her family, gardening, dancing, telling stories among other things, and at one point would drive her MGB with the top down, the wind blowing in her hair with the music loud. She was a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. She was also lucky to have worked with President Jimmy Carter through Habitat for Humanity.

Two years ago she started the tradition of all the girls in the family getting together for a weekend. It was lovingly named “Pearl’s Girls,” in honor of her mother and something she would love to see continue. She was a friend to all who met her and would give the shirt off of her back to a complete stranger if need be. Having a strong faith, she was known to tell everyone to “Have a Blessed Day.” She was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Canfield and enjoyed making brownies for their spaghetti dinners.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert G. Titus Jr., also of Austintown; three siblings, Charlotte Szereto of Novelty, Tim (Martha) Johnson of Delaware, Ohio, and Jill (Terry) Gardlock of Niles; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; loving cousins and caring friends; sisters-in-law, Helen Johnson of Warren and Lori Johnson of Niles; two stepchildren, Richard and Christine; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her dog, Winnie.

Preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers, Ed, Ted and Tom Johnson.

Per Jennifer’s wishes, she was given a shroud burial and has been laid to rest in the Emerald Meadows section of North Lawn Cemetery in Canton.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Road SE, Vienna, OH 44473, or Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Hospice House for their compassionate, loving care and support during this difficult time.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
