Jan Taczy

Jan Pokorny Taczy, 93 formerly of Chardon, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday,  April 15th, 2024 in Florida.  She was born in a farmhouse on Woodin Rd. in Chadon, Ohio on July 3, 1930 to Andrew and Frances Speck.

She was a 1949 graduate of Chardon High School.  She worked in the 50’s for the Chardon Red Cross.  She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many.  

She will be dearly missed by her daughter; Paula Horbay (Rich Burzanko), brother, Carl Speck Sr. (Nancy), grandson Frank Horbay (Sarah Briggs), great-grandchildren Gavin & Raegan Horbay, nieces Barbara Pokorny Kellogg, Nancy (Ann) Pokorny, Sharon Patterson, Lori (Wilfred) Schott, Cherrie (Joe) Simesek, Susan (David) Callahan, nephews Dickie Pokorny, Eugene (Bev) Petersen, David (Edna) Pokorny, Kenneth Pokorny, Keith Pokorny, Carl (Chic) Speck, Scott (Dee) Patterson, Joseph (Denise) Santo, David (Rebecca) Swann, Jack (Barbara) Swann.

Jan is preceded in death by: her husband Frank Pokorny, second husband John P. Taczy,  parents Andrew and Frances Speck, brothers Pete Speck, John Speck, sister Kate (John) Patterson, and nephew Capt. John Patterson.   

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:00 AM, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24TH, 2024 AT
St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North Street, Chardon, Ohio.  Visitation will be TUESDAY, APRIL 23, 2024 FROM 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Jan’s final resting place will be in Chardon Municipal Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.
