James A. Beatty

James Andrew Beatty, 55, of Happy Valley, Oregon, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus, Friday evening, June 6th, 2025 at OHSU hospital in Portland, OR with his wife and their six children beside him. He was born in Ravenna, OH on October 11th, 1969 to James C. and Charlotte Kay (Tomlinson) Beatty. James later married his best friend and the love of his life, Jacqueline Sue Beatty. 

After receiving Christ as his personal Saviour at the age of 11, he was forever changed. James’s life on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and an unwavering faith in God.  

He graduated from Troy Baptist Christian School in 1988 and then went to work at Electrolock in Bainbridge, Ohio for 9years. During this time, he went to college and received his associate's degree in accounting. Later, James went on to work 2nd shift at Kraftmaid Cabinetry for 14 years while he taught and administrated at the Christian school at his church during the day.  In 2009, James and his family moved to Happy Valley, Oregon where he pastored Town Center Baptist Church for the last almost 16 years. During his time in Oregon, he worked the night shift as a supervisor at UPS.  

James loved people. He loved the word of God. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved to hunt and fish. He loved to travel. Jacquie and James enjoyed cruising to Alaska 9 times together with friends and family. He loved playing basketball. James also loved gardening and building things. He loved being a pastor. 

2 Timothy 4: 7 I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. 

We rejoice that he ran his race and finished well.  

James will be greatly missed by: his loving wife, Jacquie of 31years ; children, Abigail Miller and her husband Caleb, Emily Beatty, Zachary Beatty and his wife Megan, Zane Beatty and his wife Sarah, Jacob Beatty and his wife Jennica, and Megan Beatty; his seven grandchildren that he loved so very much; David, Isabel, Liam, Olivia, Naomi, Wyatt, and Juliette; his brothers and sisters; Paul, Stephen, BethAnn, and Starlynn; his mom, Charlotte Beatty; his mother and father in law, Nancy and Ed Hughes; and many other family members and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his father James C. Beatty , father in law Gary Jennings, and a son Jonathan David Beatty.   

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM and FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 12:00 PM, FRIDAY, JUNE 27TH, 2025 AT CHURCH AT TROY, 18712 MUMFORD RD., GARRETTSVILLE, OH 44231 with Pastor Stephen Beatty officiating. James’s final resting place will be in Church at Troy Cemetery, Troy Twp, Ohio.
