Indy Lawler

Indy Lawler, 16 years old of Hiram and Auburn Twp, Ohio crossed the Rainbow Bridge Monday afternoon, December 9th, 2024. She was a hero, partner, loving pet, and best friend.

She achieved many certifications like Canine Good Citizen, Rescue Village Ambassador, and Story Time with Children. Indy was also a registered and trained Therapy Dog with Therapy Dogs International where she volunteered her time at nursing homes and hospitals. 

Indy was a true "working dog" who went on to assist Law Enforcement in the search and rescue of lost and missing humans. She was a certified and trained Search and Rescue scent specific, tracking/trailing K9 through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, North American Police working dog Association, Law Enforcement Training Specialist and was a faithful K9 Search and Rescue Team Member of Ohio Search Dog Association, Big Creek Search and Rescue Team, Ohio Federation of K9 Search Teams and US SARR Corp.

Indy sends warms regards and a special "thank you" to Paul Shaughnessy of Excel K9 in Hiram, Ohio for getting her started in tracking and much gratitude to all her teammates for their countless hours furthering her training. 

She was truly a kind soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Indy is now reunited with her canine companion, Halen, who preceded her in death. 

Memorial contributions in Indy's name are requested to be made to any of the Volunteer Search and Rescue Teams she was a proud member of. All donations will be greatly appreciated in helping train and certify future K9's and their handlers.
