Harriette E. Konopka (age 93) of Solon Ohio peacefully passed away while holding her daughter’s hand, on Thursday, January 29, 2026.  She was born November 30, 1932, in Cleveland Ohio, the oldest daughter of Matthew M. Kunecki and Anna M. Zbiegien Kunecki.

Harriette lived a life, deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. She and her husband Richard, were some of the founding parishioners of The Church of the Resurrection in Solon. She was a Eucharistic minister and was involved in many activities and committees at Resurrection Church. Harriette’s beautiful voice could be heard every Sunday at mass. She was also a long-time member of “The Branches”, a prayer group that was formed with other members of the parish.

Harriette’s career began at Cleveland Twist Drill company after Graduating from Noter Dame High School. She was secretary to a group of 50 engineers in the manufacturing and engineering department. Many of her family were also employeed here. During this time, she met her husband, Richard.

The couple were married in 1953 at St. Casmir’s Church in Cleveland. She also worked for David H. Scheider M.D. and Gordon K. Bell. MD as a Medical Assistant and Secretary.

After the birth of her only child, Cyndi, she remained at home to be a mother and homemaker. She was devoted to her family and parents. She hosted wonderful parties and holiday celebrations at their Solon home. Everything had to be perfect, right down to the polished silver wear and china.

She was also instrumental in bringing PLC, personalized learning centers into the Solon school system though the help of ACLD. After her husband passed away, she became a manager for Malley’s Chocolates in Solon, until she retired.

Harriette had a great love of roses, poodles, music, especially polka music and Polish food. Christmas eve she made the traditional Polish Mushroom Soup and for New Years Day, it was Bigos, Polish Hunters Stew.

A Mass and celebration of her life will be held sometime in the spring, stay tuned for further details.
