Frederick H. Barbe

Frederick Hayes Barbe age 91 passed away peacefully at Burton Health Care Center after a brief stay on April 7, 2025 in Middlefield, Ohio. Fred lived the majority of his life in Bristolville, Ohio. He was born in Warren, Ohio on May 20, 1933. The son of Howard and Grace (Dayner) Barbe. Fred graduated from Champion High School and worked at Packard Electric for 38 years prior to retiring from there in 1993.

Fred served in the Army from April 16, 1953 to March 31, 1955. While in the service he was an Army Corporal CPL with the 12th. Regiment, 4th. District for Heavy Mortar Artillery. He was discharged from Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. He received Decoration for Occupational Metal while serving in Germany and the National Defense Service Metal.

Final discharge was March 15, 1961; he served in the Reserves upon retuning home.

Surviving are his five children: Cindy Barbe of Taylors, South Carolina, Jeff Barbe of Panama City Beach, Florida, Sheri Barbe Dawson (Daniel) of Conneaut, Ohio, Barry Barbe (Lori) of Prescott, Arizona and Todd Barbe (Glenda) of Cortland, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Mathew’s of Oklahoma; special friends, Johnny Peairs and Tim Susi of Burton, Ohio; lifetime friend, Gwen Richmond of Bristolville, Ohio; George Kish (Kelly) & family of Middlefield, Ohio. Fred had a lot of good friends; many caring neighbors, as well as close relatives. Fred was friends with everyone.

Fred often talked about and missed his Friends of the First Brigade.

He was preceded in death by his former spouse; Shirley Barbe DiVencenzo, his parents, his stepfather Wayne Stroup, his longtime companion Veronica Peairs and granddaughter Amanda Barbe.

At Fred’s request there will be no calling hours, no service or public burial. Fred will be laid to rest at a later date at the Sager Memorial Cemetery.

Fred Loved all the animals as they brought him joy every day. His request was that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the following:

Fred was very grateful for all his wonderful, outstanding care that he received from family, friends, Hospice, the Veterans, Care Givers: Arlene & Kelly.

Fred received such wonderful care from so many people, which; he and his family appreciated every day. Thank you to everyone involved and you will not be forgotten.
