Florence H. Byler (nee Hostetler), 91, of Middlefield, OH, went home to be with her Savior Sunday afternoon, January 15th, 2023 while surrounded by her family in McConnellsville, OH. She was born in Middlefield on December 5th, 1931 to the late Monroe and Sarah (Detweiler) Hostetler. Florence is once again reunited with her loving husband of 68 years, Mahlon J. Byler, who passed away on February 3rd, 2018. She was a lifelong resident of Middlefield and an active member of Zion Christian Fellowship.
Loving mother of 6 natural, 4 adopted and 36 foster children, in her spare time she loved to quilt and spent many hours sewing quilt tops for her children and grandchildren. She loved her two cats Cody and Toby, who kept her company at home
Florence will be deeply missed by: her children, Rebecca (William) Mullet of Ohio, David (Kathy) Byler of Florida, Daniel (Jody) Byler of Florida, Kenneth (Karen) Byler of Iowa, Sara (Tim) Hershberger of Ohio, Rosanna (Kerry) Martin of Ohio, Kevin Byler of Massachusetts, James (Andrea) Byler of Ohio, Jason Byler of Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Randy Coblenz; sister, Clara Shetler; brother-in-laws, John Henry (Clara) Byler, Andy Byler, Samuel (Cora) Byler, sister-in-law, Marie Miller; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Mahlon; daughter, Ruth Coblentz; foster son, Bruce Simmons Jr.; grandchildren, Clay and Callie Hershberger; brothers, Wallace Hostetler and Benjamin Hostetler; sister, Mary Gingerich; brother-in-laws, Ervin Byler, Freeman (and wife Phyllis) Byler, David Byler; John Dan Miller; and sister-in-laws, Barbara (and husband Andy) Farmwald and Barbara Byler.
Friends and family will be received from 4-8 PM on Thursday. January 19th, 2023 at Zion Christian Fellowship Church, 15474 Georgia Rd., Middlefield, OH 44062. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10 AM, FRIDAY, JANUARY 20TH, 2023, AT HORIZONS CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLY CHURCH, 14920 WHITE RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH. Interment will follow at Zion Christian Fellowship Cemetery.
