Evelyn “Ruth” Kirk (nee Cottrill), 96, of Newbury, OH, passed on Thursday morning, May 21st, 2026, at her home while surrounded by her family. She was born in Rosedale, WV on May 18th, 1930. Ruth is once again reunited with her loving husband, Rev. Millard T. Kirk, who passed away April 17th, 1996.
She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her entire family. She taught Sunday school for many years and was also an avid reader. Ruth worked several years as a Press Operator and later became a bookkeeper for Kirk Sales and Service before retiring.
Ruth will be greatly missed by: her children, Al Kirk and Connie (Dennis) Czacherski; grandchildren, Matt (Colleen) Malone, Greg (Chris) Kirk, Amy Strumbly, Nikki Czacherski, Tim (Jessica) Czacherski; great-grandchildren, Ashley Watts, Samantha Malone, Taylor (Brody) Kirk, Austin (Carly) Kirk, Kaylee Kirk, Madison Kirk; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Helen) Cottrill; special friend, Carol Chitwood; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her loving husband, Rev. Millard Kirk; daughter, Shawn Strumbly; stillborn daughter, Diane Kirk; brothers, Glen Cottrill, Dove Cottrill, Dale Cottrill, Don Cottrill; and sisters, Vena Clark and Merle Jarvis.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 7PM., TUESDAY, MAY 26TH, 2026 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062 with Pastor Will Coley officiating. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4PM and 5PM until the time of the service. A Committal Service will be held at 12PM, Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 at Munn Road Cemetery, Newbury, OH.
