Eugene "Butch" C. Swonger

Eugene “Butch” C. Swonger Jr., 79, of Atwater, OH, passed away peacefully Monday evening at his home. He was born in Warren, OH on February 26th, 1945 to Eugene C. and Rosella (Bittner) Swonger Sr.  

He was a retired machinist and loved collecting model cars, trains and horse statues. Butch also loved taking care of his cats and dogs.  He really enjoyed music, movies, camping, swap meets and Car shows. He always shared these passions with his sons, making many special memories with them.  

Butch will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his companion, Patricia Criss; mother, Rosella Swonger; sons, Clifford (Holly) Swonger and Shannon (Liz) Swonger; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tim Swonger and Kenny Swonger; sisters, Sandy McKinnon and Joyce Petersen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his father; sister, Sharon Shaffer; and brother-in-laws, Paul Petersen and Albert McKinnon Sr.

A special thank you is to be sent out to Butch’s brother, Tim, for taking good care of him and also Affinity Care Hospice for their loving care and support.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS WILL BE RECEIVED FROM 1:00-3:00 PM., SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24TH, 2024 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 with Joyce Benesh officiating.
