Edward C. Dowling Jr.

Edward C. Dowling, Jr., son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend, moved on peacefully to the next chapter in his life book on October 5th, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Ed was 80 years young. He was born and raised in Drexel Hill, PA. He graduated from West Catholic Boys High School, and Villanova University. Ed’s chosen career was in the optical industry as an Optician. He joined his father and brother in owning and operating 3 stores “Edward C. Dowling and Sons, Guild Opticians” and remained in the optical industry until retirement. Edward is now reunited with his loving first wife, Patricia, who died September 1, 2011 and survived by his loving second wife, Rose Carlucci Dowling, whom he was blessed to meet and then marry on April 9th, 2016.

Ed was one of three children to the late Ann (Owens ) and Edward C. Dowling, Sr. He will be forever remembered by his sister, Ann Marie, aka Annie, (Robert, deceased) Dixon; brother, Charles, aka Chas, (Jean) Dowling; in-laws: Mary and Larry Fogerty; daughters: Colleen Dowling, Kelli (Jim) Linberg, granddaughters: Shannon and Kasey Linberg (his precious loves); as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family members along with countless old and new friends.

Ed was a quiet man, so when he spoke, you listened. He was usually giving you good advice, telling you about some historical fact (that was so much more interesting from Ed than a book or teacher) or just made a wise crack that caught you way off guard.  Ed was a kind and gentle soul, yet held a quiet strength and was loved and respected by all he met.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10: A.M., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church/Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 32 Carroll Ave., Williamstown, NJ. 08094. Family and friends will be received from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. A brunch will follow.
