David A. Calvin

David A. Calvin, 68, of Claridon, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, June 21st, 2026, at UH-Geauga Medical Center. He was born in Mentor, OH on August 28th, 1957, to the late Stanley and Joan (Wise) Calvin. 

He was previously married to Marcelle (Maio) Van Winkle, with whom he had his son, Ryan. David later married the love of his life and best friend, Helen (Goldner) on June 28th, 1997 and was gifted with his bonus children Jason, and April. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in the lives they built together. The love he shared with them will continue to be a source of strength and comfort in the years ahead.

David found joy in life’s adventures. He loved tractor pulls, motorcycle trips, especially his ice cream, and the excitement of traveling. He was a man with a curious spirit and endless ambition, always dreaming of what might come next. He often had more ideas than time to complete them, but that was part of what made him so special. Even during his battles with cancer, he demonstrated resilience and strength that touched everyone around him. His perseverance reflected the character that defined him: steadfast, hopeful, and deeply committed to those he loved.

Those fortunate enough to know David will remember his generous heart, his adventurous nature, and the way he made people feel welcomed and valued. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and encouragement to family and friends alike.

While our hearts are broken by his passing, we are grateful for the many memories he leaves behind. His spirit will live on every road traveled, every dream pursued, and every story shared among those who loved him.

David will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 29 years, Helen; children, April (Randy) Wilfong, Jason (Melanie) Banic, Ryan (Courtney) Calvin; grandchildren, Marcus, Justis, Jeanette, Isla, Henry; siblings, Laura (Daniel) Pike, Linda Morrow, Daniel Calvin, Marla Calvin, David (Roberta) Fagan; nieces and nephews, Nick, Heather, and Samantha Calvin. Jason and Nick Horvath, Casey Morrow; and many more family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Stanley Calvin, and his mother Joan (Wise) Calvin.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 7PM, SUNDAY, JUNE 28TH, 2026 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062 with Joyce Benesh officiating. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4PM until the time of the service. Committal Services will be at 11:30AM, Monday, June 29th, in Welton Cemetery in Burton, OH. Please meet at the cemetery.
