Darla J. (Darrah) Hosmer

Darla J. Hosmer, 71, of Middlefield, OH, passed away November 23, 2021. Darla was born on December 5, 1949 in Warren, OH. She was a member of the Cardinal graduating class of 1968. Darla married her late husband, James Hosmer, on January 31, 1970.

Darla lived her life to the fullest and lived up to her nicknames of “Crazy Grandma” and “Diva.” She loved reading, watching her shows, and enjoyed an occasional whiskey sour at 3 a.m. with her grandson. Darla enjoyed doing puzzles and playing games with anyone who wanted to play. She loved the Cleveland Indians and her Sundays were devoted to the Cleveland Browns. Darla adored anything her grandchildren loved and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. All of her grandchildren knew they could call her at any time, day or night, and she would answer their call, no questions asked. 

She will be greatly missed by her children: Mark (Sue) Hosmer of Cleveland Heights, OH. Bob (Patsy) Hosmer of Huntsburg, OH. Jamie Hosmer (Michael Fosberry) of Middlefield, OH. Billie Warren of Middlefield, OH. and Toni (Adam) Thistlethwaite of Middlefield, OH. Her grandchildren: James (Ashley) Hosmer of Chardon, OH. Aaron Hosmer of Huntsburg, OH. Justin (Megan) Warren of Champion, OH. Adam Warren of Middlefield, OH. Morgan Thistlethwaite of Middlefield, OH. and Mason Thistlethewaite of Middlefield, OH. Her great-grandchildren: Kahlan Hosmer of Chardon, OH. and Damian Hosmer of Chardon, OH. She is also survived by her sister Marjorie Johnson of Streetsboro, OH. brother Larry (Cheryl) Darrah of Charlevoix, MI sister-in-law Marie Evans of Chardon, OH and many nieces and nephews.

She has been reunited with the love of her life, Jim, who passed away in 2004. Also preceding her in death are her mother, Mary Alice (Finch) Darrah, father-in-law Herbert C. Hosmer, mother-in-law Grace (Reed) Hosmer, brother Greg Darrah, and brother-in-law Jim “Curly” Evans.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Evans Medical Center, for taking such good care of her throughout the years. They went above and beyond to give her the best possible care.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE HELD AT 4:00 PM, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 28TH, 2021, AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062.
