Craig R. Smith, a beloved resident of North Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, December 21st, 2025, at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Canton, Ohio, on November 19th, 1951, to the late Robert and Zolita (Swallen) Smith. Craig later married Deborah (Ritchie) Smith on January 27th, 2024.
Craig was known for his deep love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was passionate about sharing his faith with everyone he encountered. It was fitting that this avid lover of Christmas went home to be with Jesus during the holiday season. A true family man, Craig's life centered around creating joy and making fun memories for his children and grandchildren. He was deeply involved in their everyday lives and enjoyed being an enthusiastic spectator at all of their events. He loved wrestling, bowling, and watching his son and grandsons play football. He also thoroughly enjoyed his granddaughters' dance recitals on many occasions.
Craig was a source of entertainment and fun, consistently ensuring everyone was having a good time. His guiding philosophy was, "If you don't make it fun, they won't listen to you," believing that so much could be taught through games and enjoyment. As a dedicated member of Faircrest Church of God for many years, Craig was noted for always having yard games and spontaneous fun activities ready in his car for any church event. He lived a life of genuine love, always striving to make others smile. By trade, Craig was a CPA who genuinely enjoyed helping those he was privileged to meet.
He is survived by his loving wife of just under two years, Deborah; his children, Pam (Matt) Tennant and Steve (Lisa) Smith; his cherished grandchildren, Ian, Delaney, Landon, Avery, Ethan, Charlotte, Jonah, Anna, and Samuel; and a great-grandchild, Oaklyn. Craig is also survived by his siblings, Rhonda, Bruce, and Wendy; his uncle, Larry McCorkle; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Heather Smith.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, December 27th, 2025, from 11 AM - 1 PM at Faircrest Church of God, 3151 Faircrest St. SW, Canton, Ohio 44706. The CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE WILL BEGIN AT 1:00 PM with Rev. Randy Shafer officiating. Craig's final resting place will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park, North Canton, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Faircrest Church of God IMO Craig Smith.
