Christopher T. Dougan, 54, of West Farmington, OH passed away after a brief illness Friday evening, February 12th, 2021 at Briar Hill Healthcare Residence in Middlefield. He was born in San Leandro, California on March 18th, 1966 to Cecil and Karen (Coffin) Dougan. He later married Charlene Moon on June 10th, 2006.
He loved God and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Chris enjoyed praising God with his friends at the Mecca Community and West Farmington Churches.
Chris had a big heart and always wanted to help everyone. If anyone ever came to visit or was in trouble, Chris would be the first one to lend a hand or make them feel welcome.
Chris, a U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Veteran, proudly served his country to protect his family and friends. He was always the “go to” person by his peers because if anyone needed something done, Chris would see that it got done and done right.
After the military, Chris worked as a truck driver for 20 years. He spent his last 13 driving for Estes Express Lines where he became the youngest at the time to drive triples. Chris then became an Amish Taxi driver for Mark Millers work crew. He loved working with the Amish and especially spending time with his neighborhood friends: David and Emma Detweiler, and their children, Marlin, Wilma, Matthew, Daniel, Chester, Carolyn Emily; and Crist and Esther Miller, and their children, David, Daniel, Suzanne, Elizabeth, and Marietta; who have helped so much over the past few months.
Chris always loved taking his best friend and wife, Charlene, to visit California where they could enjoy the beauty and smell the sweet pine trees of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He always loved being outdoors, especially when it was cold so he could chop wood, make campfires, and shoot.
He also loved goofing off with Charlene especially if they were just out and about having fun together. Chris would often be super sneaky in surprising her with different things like a junk food night. He enjoyed a healthy lifestyle like freshly squeezed orange juice and avocado toast but occasionally treated himself with pizza or rocky road ice cream.
He liked wood working and loved animals, especially his dog, Raven, and he was so very proud of how well she behaved.
Chris leaves behind all of those whom he loved to mourn his loss: his loving wife of 15 years, Charlene; parents, Cecil and Karen Dougan; sister, Ronda Bailey; Kevin Leslie, nieces, Ryann and Brenyn; aunt and uncle, Brad and Sandy Vinson; in-laws Tom and Norine Moon, step-sons, Dominic and Luke DiPadova, brother-in-law, Ken and Lynne Moon; sisters-in-law, Carol and Chuck Tribuzzo, Nancy and Phil Salvia; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 7 P.M., SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH, 2021 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062 with Pastor Steve Garces officiating.
