Blaine L. Chalker, 94, of Parkman, Ohio passed away peacefully Thursday morning, August 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Southington, September 15, 1928, the youngest of 6 children, on the family farm of his parents, Floyd and Mae (Robison) Chalker.
He graduated from Chalker High School and then began working at Packard Electric in Warren, Ohio. After more than 30 years, Blaine retired as a Foreman at Packard. He was involved in the community by being active in the Parkman Chamber of Commerce and also a founding member of the Southington Volunteer Fire Department.
Blaine was also a Proud Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of American Legion Southington Post #751, and held several offices including Post Commander.
On January 13th, 1967, Blaine married his best friend and love of his life, Betty Jane Zeigler (Nee Jaco) and became Dad to her four children, settling in Parkman. In November 1967 they welcomed a daughter.
Blaine will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Jane; children, William (Candy) Zeigler, Rodney (Pamela) Zeigler, Jeffrey (Milenka Soltis) Zeigler, Sandra (Charles) Rought; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Elaine Zeigler; daughter-in-law, Theresa Zeigler; granddaughter, Tina Zeigler; brother, Wayne; and sisters, Ruth, Bethel, Audra & Gladys.
Family and friends will be received from 4-7 P.M., Monday, August 21st, 2023 at Best Funeral Home, 15809 Madison Rd., Middlefield, OH. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE AT 10 A.M., TUESDAY, SOUTHINGTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 4348 SMITH-NELSON RD. (RTE 305), SOUTHINGTON, OH 44470 with the Reverend Doctor Kenneth Chalker officiating. Blaine’s final resting place will be in Graham Cemetery, Southington, OH.
