Betty June Peck (nee Mayle) 90, of Chardon, OH passed away peacefully at 9:58 AM, Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 at LakeMed Care and Rehab in Painesville, OH. She was born in Warren, OH on June 10th, 1930 to the late Walter and Joeanna (Bates) Mayle. Betty is once again reunited with her loving husband of 65 years, Dean Peck, who died October 6th, 2015.
Betty graduated from Chardon High School in 1948. She then worked at George Rimes Trucking in the office, Geauga Hospital as a nursing assistant, and along with her husband at Claridon Center Garage as a secretary until retirement. Betty and Dean enjoyed vacationing at Houston Lake Camp in Shining Tree, Ontario Canada with their family and friends as well as taking trips to Jamaica, Haiti, Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii. Betty and Dean also liked to stay with her sister, Irene and her husband, Nelson, in Texas during the winter months for several years.
She treasured all of her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed cooking Sunday family dinners and playing canasta, marbles, and dominos. As a member of the First Congregational Church of Claridon she was a Sunday school teacher and involved in Women’s Fellowship and the annual Harvest Dinner.
Betty will be greatly missed by: her children, Darlene (Moet) Arnett of Painesville, Donna (Joseph) Berninger of Montville, Dean (Carolyn) Peck of Huntsburg, Nancy (Rick) Jevnikar of Chardon; sister, Kaye Wedge of Chardon; grandchildren, Crystal Arnett, Amy (Tim) Copeland, Jessica (Steve) Hill, Amy (Rennie) Eves, Kristen (Matt) Evans, Doug (Julie) Berninger, Eric (Jamie) Peck, Nick Jevnikar, Ashleigh Jevnikar; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Faith, Heather, Bobby, Megan, Sarah, Gavin, Allison, Samantha, Christopher, Luke, Finn, Rosalie, Livia, Everly; great-great-granddaughter, Braelynn; close family friend, Gary Hogamier; and many family and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; loving husband, Dean; sisters, Irene Johnson, Maggie Shaffer, Wavaleen Newberry; brother, Lawrence Mayle; and close family friend, Kathy Hogamier.
A PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN CLARIDON CENTER CEMETERY, CLARIDON TWP, OH. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Betty’s memory to the Claridon Congregational Church, 13942 Mayfield Rd., Huntsburg, OH 44046.
