Betty Jane (Jaco-Zeigler) Chalker

Betty Jane Chalker, 96 of Parkman Ohio passed away October 3rd, 2024 at her residence while surrounded by family.  She was born in Nelson, Ohio on October 19, 1927, the second of 3 children, on the family farm of her parents, Ralph and Pauline Jaco.

She attended and graduated from Nelson High School. In 1946, Betty married Philip Zeigler, together they started Zeigler Trucking. She and Phil  had 4 children before his untimely passing, after which she managed the trucking company on her own. In January 1967, she married Blaine L. Chalker. 

Betty was very active in the Parkman community, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and volunteering for the Parkman Chamber of Commerce. She was an annual “Snowbird” as she and Blaine spent most winters in Florida or Arizona. Betty loved to travel and visited Hawaii, Italy, Sweden and England.

Betty was preceded in death by: her parents; 1st husband, Philip Zeigler; 2nd husband, Blaine Chalker; daughter, Elaine Zeigler; daughters-in-law, Theresa and Candace Zeigler; granddaughter, Tina Zeigler; and sisters, Helen and Eleanor.

Betty is survived by: sons, William (Susan Boneberg) Zeigler, Rodney (Pamela) Zeigler, Jeffrey (Milenka Soltis) Zeigler, Sandra (Charles) Rought; 13 Grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great- great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Irma Whelchel, and Lena Miller, as well as the entire staff at Traditions Hospice for the excellent care they provided during this difficult time.

A FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 1.00 P.M., MONDAY, OCTOBER 7th, 2024 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH with Chaplain Wayne Benner officiating. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Betty’s final resting place will be in Overlook Cemetery, Parkman, Ohio.
