Antonio "Anthony" Piteo

Antonio “Anthony” Piteo, 69, of Middlefield, OH, passed away Thursday morning, January 7th, 2021 at UH-Geauga Medical Center. He was born in Caracas, Venezuela on June 5th, 1951 to the late Angelo and Rosa (Soriano) Piteo. He is also preceded in death by his late brother, Patrick.  Anthony later married Deborah Schaffer on May 8th, 1999.

He retired from being a Clerk after 53 years with the railroads, most recently Norfolk Southern. Anthony was also a partner with his brother, Joseph, in opening Blazin Bill’s BBQ restaurant in Troy Twp for the first five years.

Anthony was a car enthusiast who enjoyed going to beaches, fishing, and bird watching. He was also a modern day “MacGyver” as he could fix anything. He liked finding the reason why something wasn’t working, especially on tractors, and wouldn’t stop until it was fixed.

One of Anthony’s greatest passions was passing on his knowledge. He loved explaining how things worked and when he was satisfied with his expert teaching, he would give a laughing smile and twinkle in his eye.

Anthony will be missed by: his loving wife of 21 years, Deborah; children, Christopher, Matt, Kimberly, James; several grandchildren; brothers, Joseph and Carmine; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE HELD AT 12 P.M., SATURDAY, JUNE 5TH, 2021 ON THE PATIO OF BLAZIN BILLS, 17800 GREAT LAKES PKWY, HIRAM, OH 44234. The time will be announced at a later date. In lieu of cut flowers, potted plants are requested to be sent as a memorial garden will be created for Antonio.
