Alice R. (Houpt) Frye

Alice R. Frye (nee Houpt), 86, of Middlefield Twp, passed away peacefully Monday morning, October 12th, 2020 at UH-Cleveland Medical Center. She was born in Big Run, PA on October 27th, 1933 to the late George and Mary (Guthrie) Houpt. Alice is once again reunited with her loving husband, Cecil Frye, who died in 1987.

She worked for the Bamberger/Reinthal Knitting Mill for many years until retirement. Afterwards, she enjoyed working for a catering service.

Alice had the biggest heart and was an active member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Middlefield where she loved helping and participating in church events.

She loved spending time with her family, especially get-togethers as well as writing/receiving mail. Alice also enjoyed playing with the family dog, Ginger, whenever she could.

Alice will be greatly missed by: her son, Ronnie (Beverly) Frye Sr.; grandchildren, Brian (Pam Dupont) Frye, Ronnie (Sue) Frye Jr., Ed (Heidi) Zeman, Johnnie (Samantha) Messer, James Messer; great-grandchildren, Nate, Brian Jr., Nick, Zach, and Nolan Frye, Dalton Messer, Alex Zeman, Steve Kobus; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Donnie Houpt; sisters, Ruby Varner, Laura Reed; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Cecil Frye; daughters, Shirley Messer, Donna Bakula; granddaughter, Tonya Bakula; and brothers, Bob Houser, Jim Houpt, George Houpt, and Ed Houpt.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:00 A.M., FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16TH, 2020 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062, with Pastor Erv Urschitz officiating. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 15th, 2020 at the funeral home. A Private burial in Riverside Cemetery, Cleveland will follow.
