William "Bill" Gingerich

William "Bill" Gingerich, 87, of Burton, passed away peacefully at his daughters home in Middlefield, Thursday morning, October 19th, 2017. He was born in Burton, OH on January 26th, 1930 to the late Amos and Ida (Yoder) Gingerich. Bill later married Bertha Borntreger on June 5th, 1956.

He participated in the Citizen's Service Corps during World War II by volunteering countless hours at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Bill then worked at Johnson Rubber before retiring in 1995. He loved music and played the guitar and harmonica. Bill was a great handyman who could fix or repair anything. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making birdhouses. Bill also liked to fix up old VW Beetle cars and camping in his VW Camper Van.

Bill will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 61 years, Bertha; children, Juanita (Gary) Matheny, Ronald (Mary Ann) Gingerich, Marilyn (Robert) Reckart; grandchildren, Justin (Ann Bomberger) Gingerich, Clayton Gingerich, Halle (fiance, Tim Miller) Gingerich, Courtney Matheny, William Matheny; siblings, Melbern Gingerich, Ada Mullet, Abe (Betty) Gingerich, Susan (Noah "Willie") Borntreger; Amos (Mary) Gingerich, Barb (Harry) Yoder, Ruth (Bill) Detweiler, Paul Gingerich; sister-in-law, Hester Gingerich; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Owen Gingerich, Allen Gingerich; brother-in-law, Albert Mullet; and sister-in-law, Sara Gingerich.

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at New Mercies Community Church, 12767 Butternut Rd., Burton, OH 44021. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL FOLLOW AT 11:00 A.M., IN PLEASANT HILL CEMETERY, 12775 BUTTERNUT RD., with Pastor Roy Williams officiating.
