Raymond “Ray” E. Sawyer, 78, of Middlefield, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, November 28th, 2018 at Burton Healthcare Residence. He was born in Randolph, VT on March 19th, 1940 to the late Cliff and Hazel (Brown) Sawyer.
He served as a Machinery Repairman First Class in the United States Navy for 8 years. Ray then began working for the government, with which he traveled the world, as a Non-Destructive Testing Inspector and Instructor. Upon retiring, Ray continued occupying his time by rebuilding furnaces at Industrial Fire Brick in Solon. Most recently, he was a driver for the County Neighbor Program is Orwell. Ray enjoyed watching Western Movies and Fox News. He was also an active member in the Church of Sanctuary in Middlefield.
Ray will be deeply missed by: his loving wife of 25 years, Dotty (Roach) Sawyer; daughters, Shana Ericson, Sonya Ericson; granddaughters, Isabelle and Adalyn; friend and companion Boston Terrier, Megan; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Will and Dorothy Roach.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 7 P.M. ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2ND, 2018 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD, MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062. Family and friends will be received from 4 P.M. until the time of the service.
