Raymond J. Mazzone

Raymond J. Mazzone, 87, of Burton passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 18th, 2018 at Burton Healthcare Residence. He was born in Cleveland, OH on March 12th, 1931 to the late Angelo and Liboria (Puzo) Mazzone.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who worked as a HVAC Technician at General Electric for many years. When Raymond moved to California, he opened and operated GENCO HVAC Services until his retirement.

When he was 21, Raymond observed a woman leap from the Detroit-Superior High-Level Bridge in Cleveland. He immediately stopped and single-handedly rescued the woman from the Cuyahoga River

Raymond enjoyed the world of entertainment. He loved Frank Sinatra music and enjoyed singing everywhere he went, especially at the Elks Lodge and VFW. He was also an avid collector of guns and Presidential coins. Raymond loved traveling in his motorhome and with his family and was always up for a road trip wherever it took them.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, VFW, Moose International, NRA, Republican Party, and Knight’s of Columbus.

Raymond will be greatly missed by: his 1st wife and good friend, Barbara Mazzone; children, Kristine (Dr. Craig) Zippe, Anita (Nichol Vandermer) Mazzone, Louise (Barry) Mazzone-Pistone, Robert Mazzone; grandchildren, Erica (Mathew) Kennedy, David (Mandy) Mazzone, Devon Zeigler, Anthony Todaro, Angela Vargas, Leif Luoma, Elise Pitzer, Michael (fiancée Anna LoCascio) Mazzone; great-grandchildren, Eliana Kennedy, Salvatore Vargas, Giovanni Vargas, Angelo Luoma, Massimo Pitzer; and many friends. He is preceded in death by: his parents; 2nd wife, Patricia (Lenhart) Mazzone; 3rd wife, Ada (Pricer) Mazzone; son, Raymond J. Mazzone Jr.; and brothers, Angelo and Ernest Mazzone.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 4:00 P.M., SATURDAY, MARCH 24TH, 2018, AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service. A reception will follow and be announced at the end of the service.
