Melvin M. Yoder, 91, of Parkman, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family at home, Sunday morning, July 29th, 2018. He was born in Middlefield, OH on March 27th, 1927 to the late Menno D. and Elva (Hostetler) Yoder. Melvin later married Fannie Hershberger on December 18th, 1956. Melvin was ordained a Minister on May 7th, 1967 and then became Bishop of the Old Order Amish Church, Parkman District on May 9th, 1981.
He will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 61 years, Fannie; children, Ada (Andy) Miller, Owen (Ella) Yoder, Elva (Owen) Yoder, Laura (Enos) Hershberger, Vernon (Nancy) Yoder, Raymond (Elsie) Yoder; step-son, David (Mary Ellen) Mast; 63 grandchildren; 151 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 brother; 2 sisters; 1 half-brother; 1 half-sister; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Melvin is preceded in death by: his parents; step-son, Danny Mast; 1 grandson; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 9:30 A.M., WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1ST, 2018 AT 15730 AGLER RD., PARKMAN, OH with Bishop John J. Leslein officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Mullet, Chester Gingerich, Allen Byler, and John Ray Leslein. Visitation will be anytime until the time of the service. Melvin’s final resting place will be in Hershberger Cemetery, Troy Twp, OH.
