John S. Kapis, 69, of Burton, OH passed away peacefully Sunday morning, November 10th, 2019 at home while surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Cleveland, OH on November 13th, 1949 to the late John and Lenore (Anderson) Kapis.
He worked as an auto body painter since age 16 spending many years between Chesterland Auto Body and the Mayfield Collision Center. He was also a lifetime member of the Eagle’s Club, Aerie #2261 in Chardon.
John enjoyed sitting and working outside as well as going fishing, camping and having bonfires with his family. John also loved taking his family to amusement parks on weekends and going to shop picnics.
He was also the kindest, gentlest man to anyone who knew him. John loved making people laugh by putting his cowboy hat on, grabbing his harmonica and saying “Bob’s here!”.
John will be dearly missed by: his loving wife of 31 ½ years, Edna (Pollari) Kapis; children, Ron Kapis, Michelle (Charles) Cohn, Kimberly Hahn; grandchildren, Clayton Hahn, C.J. Cohn, Michael Cohn, Carson Hahn, Kelly Kapis, Emily Cohn, Nathaniel Cohn, Jude Cohn, Zoey Cohn; brothers, Charles Kapis, Mike (Kathy) Kapis; sister, Jill (Kay) Kravcisin; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, and grandson Kale Cohn.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 2 P.M., SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH, 2019 AT THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 14999 SOUTH STATE AVE, MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062. A committal service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, November 23rd, in Huntsburg Twp Cemetery.
