John A. Gingerich, 91, of Middlefield, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, August 27th, 2019 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Middlefield, OH on December 6th, 1927 to the late Abraham S. and Amanda (Schmucker) Gingerich. John later married Elizabeth “Betty” Kumher on July 4th, 1953.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran who loved being a horologist, specializing in cuckoo clocks. He enjoyed Fishing, ornithology, listening to music, and spending time with his family and friends.
John will be dearly missed by: his loving wife of 66 years, Betty; children, John Andrew (Patricia) Gingerich, Ronald Lee (Linda) Gingerich, Shirley Lynn (Dana) Yoder, Brian Ray (Dulcey) Gingerich; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Allen (Amanda) Gingerich.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M., FRIDAY, AUGUST 30TH, 2019 AT MAPLE VIEW MENNONITE CHURCH, 14890 BURTON WINDSOR RD., BURTON, OH 44021 with Pastors Bruce Kumher and Kevin Kumher officiating. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 29th from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Church and also on Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. John’s final resting place will be in the Church Cemetery.
