George H. Rose Jr., 93, of Middlefield, passed away peacefully at BriarCliff Manor in Middlefield, Saturday evening, January 20th, 2018. He was born in Willoughby, OH on February 3rd, 1924 to the late George H. and Eleanor (Tanner) Rose Sr. 

He was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran who served onboard USS CALIFORNIA (BB-44) in the Pacific Fleet. George worked as a carpenter but was a true Craftsman of his trade. He built his first two homes and later transferred his special skills to his hobbies after retirement. George enjoyed tinkering as he restored many antique pedal cars and collected model airplane engines. He even built a scaled model of a Fokker D-7 bi-plane, which won him the Mechanics Illustrated Golden Hammer Award. George won another Award from Mechanics Illustrated for his work on a model sailboat.

George was also a member of the Wheels of Yesteryear Antique Auto Club. He enjoyed driving and showing his 1929 Buick and 1930 Chevy cars. In the past few years, George enjoyed meeting his friends as part of the morning McDonald's Club.

He will be greatly missed by: his children, Thomas Rose of Middlefield, David (Gwen) Rose of Beaumont, CA, Sharon R. (Rick) Goodemote of Hubbard, OH, Leanne Rose of Middlefield; son-in-law, Thomas Fowler; grandchildren, Daniel (Kelly) Fowler, Emily (Joe) Jeffers, Kyle Rose, Seth Goodemote, Lance Goodemote; and many friends. George is preceded in death by: his loving wife, Helen; parents; daughter, Mary Fowler; an infant son, Baby Rose; and sister, Jean David.

A private gathering of family will be held at a later date.
