Carl Eugene Paskey age 84, of Orwell died peacefully surrounded by family at his home on Saturday April 7, 2018. Carl was the son of Samuel and Anna (Katula) Paskey, born on August 7, 1933 in Galloway West Virginia.

Carl graduated from Philippi High School in Philippi West Virginia where he played football, basketball, baseball and tennis.

He attended Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi for a year before he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served for 5 years as a bomb navigation mechanic during the Korean War and upon his honorable discharge; he enrolled at Fairmont State University in West Virginia. He graduated from Fairmont State and began his teaching career in the Geneva School District in the fall of 1960. While at Geneva he taught Physical Education and coached Junior High Football, Basketball and Track. Then he met the love of his life Mary Spore and they were married on May 27, 1961.

In 1963 he accepted a teaching position at Grand Valley High School where he was able to help Joseph Shoaf resurrect the football program along with coaching basketball and track.

In 1966, an opportunity to teach Chemistry and Physics opened up in the Cardinal School District in Middlefield, Ohio. Carl taught at Cardinal High School until his retirement in 1990. While at Cardinal he was an assistant coach in football and was the head basketball coach for 2 years. He received the Martha Holden Jennings Teacher award for Excellence in Science. He loved to teach and inspired so many students who went on to earn MD’s and PhD’s in the medical and science fields.

He was a devoted husband and family man. He was there whenever and wherever his wife and children needed him to be. He truly enjoyed watching his children succeed in life, and most of all was so proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments in their young lives.

He was a passionate outdoorsman who, depending on the time of the year, could be found hunting, fishing and or camping. He passed his love for the outdoors on to his wife and children. Many days were spent in the great outdoors with his family.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Anna Paskey and an infant sister JoAnne. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary, daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Spore of Geneva, Sister Shirley Lewis of Tampa, Florida, Children, Grandchildren, Great Grand Child: Sons Nathan (Maria) Katie, Abby Paskey, Orwell, Ohio, Carl (Stacy) Alyssa, Carley Paskey, Shreveport, Louisiana, Samuel, Megan, Jenna Paskey, Cortland, Ohio, Daughters Margaret (David) West, Kevin Greer, Hayden Greer, Dillion West, Franklin, Tennessee, Carol (Michael) Hines, Orwell, Ohio Kyle (Haley) Hines, Dallas, Texas, Joshua (Sara) Tina Hines, Cortland, Ohio.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE AND LUNCHEON WILL BE HELD AT 11:30 AM, SATURDAY, JULY 7TH, 2018 AT ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH HALL, 103 N. MAPLE ST., ORWELL, OH 44076. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve.
