Bertha E. (Gertz) Reiter-Butt

Bertha E. Reiter-Butt (nee Gertz), 90, of Middlefield, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 27th, 2016 at Heather Hill Care Communities. She was born in West Farmington, OH on May 19th, 1925 to the late Adolf and Emma (Danghshut) Gertz. Bertha was widely known as the "Cookie Lady" while working at Scott's Bakery and Giant Eagle Bakery. She was a lifelong resident of Middlefield and a member of the Parkman Alumni Association. Bertha also attended Burton Assembly of God for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed being an Amish Taxi Driver.

She will be missed by: children, William "Bill" (Carrie) Reiter, Robert "Bob" (Sandy) Reiter, Beth (Mark) Johnson; 9 grandsons, 2 step-granddaughters; 21 great-grandchildren; and many friends. Bertha is preceded in death by: her parents; first husband, William Thomas Reiter; second husband, Ralph C. Butt; and sister, Margaret Kraus.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11 A.M., WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30TH, 2016 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH 44062 with Pastor Roger Loomis of the Journey Community Church in Jefferson officiating. Family and friends will be received from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday, March 29th, 2016 at the funeral home.
